The Activity Staff here at Bethany Manor pride themselves in providing fun and familiar therapeutic activities to enhance our residents’ quality of life by promoting self esteem and independence through creativity. Scheduled activities are provided seven days a week, 365 days per year. We offer a diverse range of activity programming for people with cognitive and physical impairments, tailoring each person’s activity schedule to fit their needs. We encourage and promote independent, individual, and group activities.
Independent Activities: Activities that one would pursue at home are encouraged to continue during the stay here at Bethany Manor. Activities such as crosswords, wordfinds, knitting/crocheting, reading, writing, and watching television.
Individual Activities: One-One Daily Visits, Discussions, Reminiscing, Life Review, and Physical Games provided for those residents who were always an introvert in the comforts of their own room.
Group Activities: Encouraging one to understand the importance of socialization and continued friendship. Our motto is life has just begun when you enter Bethany Manor. Activities such as bingo, physical/mental games, tae bo/yoga/fitness club, gardening, multi-denominational pastoral care, men’s club, and resident council.
Dementia/Alzheimer’s Activities: Sensory Stimulation, Light Touch Therapy, Nature Therapy, Aromatherapy, Sensory Baking, and Reminiscing. These activities are geared for resident’s to help cope with pain, stress, and depression.
Family/Community Involvement: Resident Council is comprised of a group of resident’s who meet monthly to discuss issues facing the elderly as well as issues within the nursing home. Bethany is proud to announce it’s support of the Chemung County Ombudsman program, an advocacy group for our residents. Quarterly Family Council meetings, run by the Director of Social Work, families are encouraged to be active participants in their loved ones life.
